Can we pack a shipping container with herrings and set out on a mission to rescue him?

Surely if we all write emails to Arnie then he'll get clemency?

people will fork it, and it'll carry on from there.
I think ReiserFS will probably survive, because it's made it into Linus' kernel, but I feel that Reiser4 quite possibly won't simply because it hasn't. It's a great pity because it has some splendid ideas which make it pack the data into the disk sectors extremely tightly, which in turn help it run very quickly. Currently it has a few problems which I have discovered recently. Goodness only knows what will happen in the future.

For Hans' sake, and for those of his children, I hope this turns out to be one huge mistake, but somehow I fear not.

Yes, it's a disaster of considerable magnetude, not only for the family
in question, but also for us users of R4. I suspect that the police have
probably got it correct, but from what I have read so far it is pretty
tenuous circumstantial evidence.

Still we do have the source, a fair amount of explanitory writing, and
lets not forget that there are other filesystems. Also Hans has not yet
been compelled to meet his maker. People on /. are positing that if he
has to do a long/life sentence he might well be allowed to continue to
work on it in prison.
