I can't find anyone who has got dual monitors working with the "intel"
driver so, if you were trying that, I'd suggest moving back to "i810"

There are a number of little traps so, if you still haven't got it
working, send me your xorg.conf and I'll check it. Off list is
probably best.

Firstly, thanks all for the advice on the hardware acceleration front.
I couldn't get it working, but that has been superseded by another
issue...

So, having just obtained a second monitor and card to drive it I'd
like my desktop spread over the two screens. I'm not well-skilled in
the intricacies of X.

Things I've tried:
The howto at Ubuntu Forums
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=2545824 didn't work for me.
The most useful-sounding suggestion for getting dual monitors working
is at http://burtonini.com/blog/computers/randr-2007-02-06-17-50 but
no joy there either. The appropriate tip in the Ubuntu Hacks book was
not useful.

I've helped a number of people on the Ubuntu list get theirs going.
It's nice to find something I can help the community with!

Kerry.
