I've found the reported refresh rate to be incorrect sometimes with
the nvidia driver. Have a look if the actual rate is reported by the
monitor.

On my computer the Gnome screen resolution shows a refresh rate of 52Hz
but the monitor reports a vertical rate of 59.9Hz.
