Absolutely correct.
So what are the situations?
Old / low spec box to act as...
* thin client.
* router / firewall
Secure distro to act as webserver. (At this point someone will start
muttering about little red daemons....bring it on!)
"Dark room" server distro.
Embedded distros.
Kiddies "toy" box.
LiveCD's (Knoppix mempis...)
Programmer's Dream distro.
Distro for Granny. (Easy to use, can't get stuffed up)
Kiosk distro.
Distro for me old Dad. (Tell him it's Vista, it looks like just like
Windows, it works like Windows, just better, it's lock down so the old dear
can't stuff it up, it's free...)
Domain specific distro (scientist, astronomy, mathematician, GIS, ...)
Sysadmin's dream distro
Control Freak's Dream Distro (hmm, isn't that the same as the one above! :-))
Ruby xor Perl xor Python xor ... programmers dream distro (all the
sysadmin scripts written in scripting language of choice instead of @%$#%$!
ancient arcane sh)
Any other ideas?
