Downloading the KDE4 remix as we speak. I've upgraded my home pc to ubuntu. The
only problem was having to throw out the inbuilt nvidia graphics support, and
use the stuff from nvidia themselves...

/etc/init.d/gdm stop
apt-get --purge remove linux-restricted-modules-`uname -r`
linux-restricted-modules-common nvidia-glx nvidia-settings nvidia-kernel-common
sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-169.12-pkg2.run
/etc/init.d/gdm start

1. ignore any errors about missing packages from the apt-get list.
2. You may need to install the kernel headers package ( I've got the source
tree installed, so can't be specific about this ).
3. let the installer build a new xorg.conf ( you *did* back up the old one,
didn't you (: )

This is on amd64 kit. Dunno if the 32 bit install is any smoother. If not,
you'll have a different ( 32 bit ) installer package from nvidia.com.

Cheers,

Steve.
