Greetings All Due to the help from this group, most of my network issues were cleared up, bar one. My net work is operating through an edimax switch, model ES311 6RL and as far as the computers are concerned is working perfectly.
However I can not access the two printers 1 hp 2600n laserjet 2 HP d7640 photosmart They were all working properly before the network crashed. I can ping there ip address from any machine any operating system; and they respond, with 100% packet transmission and acceptance, so I have to assume this eliminates the switch and cabling. I have also tried different ports on the switch with no change in outcome. The switch lights report everything as normal. however I can not print to them, or access them from any software web browser etc. i have tried installing the windows xp drivers under Xp pro from the HP driver disks supplied with the printers. I tried this on two dual boot systems running xp pro with out success as the installer reports "no printers found on the network." Nor can I reach them by putting there ip numbers into a web browser. I have also tried the mac address with similar result Nada! As I have little hair left to lose I would be grateful for any ideas assistance etc I am wondering if I could have a power supply issue as both the printers, the switch and the two computers are running off the same circuit? I don't know enough about that side of things. Regards Chris Thomas
