Your printer definitions are probably a bit to cock now you're running on a different subnet. IIRC you can set up the IP address of the hp 2600 from it's menu - tedious but it works. First step is to print out the config and see what IP it's on. What I do on a small network is to number
PC's etc 192.168.1.1 upwards Printers etc 192.168.1.100 upwards Comms devices 192.168.1.254 downwards but that's just me! Once you've set it up ( ip address, netmask = 255.255.255.0, broadcast = 192.168.1.255 ) you should be able to ping the printer... then you can update your printer definition and it should work. I don't use any HP's any more, but the hplip software is supposed to be pretty good these days (: hth, Steve On Wed, 26 Nov 2008 17:09:08 +1300 chris <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Greetings All > > Due to the help from this group, most of my network issues were cleared > up, bar one. > My net work is operating through an edimax switch, model ES311 6RL and > as far as the computers are concerned is working perfectly. > > However I can not access the two printers > 1 hp 2600n laserjet > 2 HP d7640 photosmart > > They were all working properly before the network crashed. > > I can ping there ip address from any machine any operating system; and > they respond, with 100% packet transmission and acceptance, so I have to > assume this eliminates the switch and cabling.
