I use grub, but I didn't let RH7.3 install load the MBR.  If you could
mount the RH 7.3 partition(s), you could try doing LILO, but I bet the
RAID setup is the problem.  Try moving /boot to a non-RAID drive.  I
installed on IDE disks and a uni-processor, and nary a problem.  RH
7.3 even setup my mointor and video card and sound card and NIC
perfectly, although it did munge the host name and I had to do some
tinkering to get com stuff to work.

My money is on the RAID or dual processor support.

Per earlier posts: a floppy is too small for an XFS kernel.
