I have a running system (gentoo in my case), and I keep a bootable
grub floppy on hand as well. I put grub in the mbr about two years
ago, and I never tinker with it, When I install a new system like
RH7.3, I just complete the install, then modify my existing menu.lst
before trying to boot the new install. That way I get no surprises.

I know that almost everyone in this list hates grub with a passion
(I'm not really fond of info pages, either), but it's always been
reliable for my simple needs. If they would just modify LILO not to
require updating every time you change the lilo.conf, I would be
content to use LILO.
