That's both unneccesary and counterproductive. I've installed the XFS RH-7.3 many, many times on servers with SCSI RAID5, and its always worked perfectly. But then again, i've always used LILO. As far as i'm concerned grub is a toy, and not meant for an enterprise environment. On Sat, 02 Nov 2002 19:36:10 -0500 "Brett I. Holcomb" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:I installed (finally!) Unfortunately, the system won't start. It boots to a black screen
and just sits there so I've got some questions. I did check the XFS
notes and did NOT have to apply the patch. I could use the ISO as
is. Also, I put GRUB on the MBR.I use grub, but I didn't let RH7.3 install load the MBR. If you could mount the RH 7.3 partition(s), you could try doing LILO, but I bet the RAID setup is the problem. Try moving /boot to a non-RAID drive. I
Its not SMP. As i mentioned, i've used this OS load on both dual & quad CPU boxes, all with SCSI RAID5, and never had any problems. Its RAID so much as GRUB is prolly too stupid to know how to handle it.The system is a dual AMD 1.9 system with an Adaptec 3210S RAID
adapter and I'm running RAID 5 on it.
My money is on the RAID or dual processor support.
