What I meant by automatic was that when I installed Col 3.1 on my system my soundcard came up and ran without an work on my part. I remember because under eD 2.4 I bought the OSS drivers and used them to get sound working so I was pleasantly surprised when 3.1 had working sound after an install! I'll worry about sound later after I get the kernel figured out.
