As for sndconfig - is that a necessity with RH? Caldera set it up automatically.

The installer iso is x86 based, but SGI has Athlon rpm's available, it's just that the Installer CD requires a fair amount of work to create, and since it's donated time by the SGI people, they have to prioritize. The main developer for the installer images is Russell Cattelan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> who really deserves a thank you for the work he's done on these. I've found that sound is temperamental, some machines are automatic, some require sndconfig to get it working. I've never taken the time to try and figure out why.
