it's a small cheep webcam AUD$120 or so. The 'puretek' is what it reports via
the usb channel, to linux. It's actual brand name has long since been
forgotten by me, the carboard box with a sexy female on the cover being
consigned to that place where all wrapping with females in sexy costumes, and
used corn flake packets go. I bought a camera for god's sake, not a holiday
for two on the gold coast if I just 'register'.

usb module auto detected this 'device' along with my usb mouse, and
consequently auto loaded the so-called ov511.o module.

Do you know this for fact? Meaning has someone stated as such, or you just
haven't (yet) found the 'correct' driver? If not, modprobe ov511, it covers a
wide range of CCD chips.

Have you tried gphoto ??

Thanks for that. I've tried nothing, since I'm total newbie on this whole
issue.
