Paranoia is a good thing, but even I would happy with one on each
island/one in my hand. In fact my model is Montreal/LA/my garage/my PO
Box. If I lose those, then the chances of anything more complex than
cockroaches still living on the planet is small.

Cloud providers... what does that mean? The only one that offers raw
disk space is Amazon S3, which gives you East and West coast US, Europe
and Singapore.

If you want redundant mail servers in remote DCs, then I would use
either hosted services from any 3 of your fave SPs, which may be
difficult to keep in sync, or good old fashioned VPSes, where you can
easily set up syncing services, forwarding validated emails to the 2
remote IP addresses. Keep the retry time to the default 5 days ( or even
lengthen it ), and you should stand a good chance of having 3 mail
servers that will (eventually) be in sync with each other.

As both Amazon and Google have lately proved, the only people who you
should really trust in this scenario are those directly affected by any
failure. That's usually a very small number, and you can probably see
them all from your office...

Haven't they just parted company with yahoo???
