I should also point out on some Unixen, 'sed -r' may not exist or may
not work the way you expect it to.

However, that perl syntax /should/ work on everything, including
windows *( you might have to change the quotes because windows cmd.exe
is broken, but it will still do the right thing ).

And like Sed and Awk, you can almost guarantee that Perl is installed
on any Unix box you might encounter.

( These aren't points that make it 'win', just one of those trade-off
arguments that make it favourable in the eyes of some for a given
purpose ).
