Hi all.
2 or 3 days ago my monitor lost its set resolution resulting in full
screen displays being cropped top/bottom.
The monitor is an AOC model 193FW 19 inch wide screen with max
resolution of 1440 x 900 (16x10). I first thought the monitor was faulty
but the monitor's hardware adjustments would not fix the problem which
has turned out to be software related.
With icewm 'startx starticewm', starts the X display with the default
resolution above although in xorg.conf the preferred resolution and all
alternatives are all 1280 x 800. This is also the resolution set in the
Mageia Control Centre. I can change the resolution using 'kcmshell4
monitor' from a terminal but this does not stick between restarts. At
1280x800 the monitor displays correctly.
Also tried 1280X720 (16x9) with no joy.
I have looked through xorg log but this is new territory for me
Any/all ideas most welcome
