Yup, do listen to what Michael Hayes says here, given that he lectures that at uni... ;-) The bottom line is, Ethernet over power line is a bit like broadband over phone line - an abuse of carrier channels that were not made for the purpose of carrying high frequency signals. The results are, while astonishing, still predictable. If you can run copper through your house you will always have magnitudes more bandwidth and reliability. Everything else is user beware.
