Hi,
Amd 64 bit was a problem for some video cards about 8 years ago.

There was a time when 64 bit software was poorly supported (in comparison to 32). One would download a tarball and it would not compile/run on a 64 bit machine. -the same tarball worked
fine on a 32bit box.

I suspect those days are gone now, and 64 bit architectures are here to stay (until replaced by 128 bits).

AMD is way less power hungry than pentiums. This is kindof crucial for battery life in a laptop.

Cheers,
 Derek.

I don't care for AMD at any time
Based on what facts and arguments? Just out of interest.

I've had only AMD 64bit for the past 8 years and can't complain. No
buggy chipsets either that I've heard of and that cause recalls or
manufacturer's service replacements.
