If you like curvy, wobbly, coloured things on your screen like compiz as I do, and use Java servers, consider starting with 32GB RAM. As said earlier in this thread, it's cheap and worth it. I use 32GB RAM on my ubuntu machine and can only afford two VMs running Tomcat and JBoss respectively, and both are panting when running tests. I'm seriously considering upgrading already.
