Here is the result of installing git:

root@davin-desktop:/home/www# apt-get install git
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package git
root@davin-desktop:/home/www#

It seems that I need to have a working internet connection to install the
program "git"
which puts me into a chicken and egg situation: I need to have a working
internet connection
in order to get a wireless internet connection!
