Well, not exactly.
The advantage of my idea is easier migration.
Now, there are no standard for manpage encoding. On the other hand,
virtually one encoding is used for each language (for example, EUC-JP
for Japanese, ISO-8859-1 for German, KOI8-R for Russian, on Linux) and
manpage sources are written in these encodings. Manpage viewer doesn't
supply any encoding conversion. Admitting such a current situation,
internationalized manpage viewer with my idea can replace the current
manpage viewer without affecting anything. Thus, users easily install
internationalized version of manpage viewer and it can be spreaded
more quickly and easily. Old (without encoding specifier) and new
(with encoding specifier) manpages can co-exist and old manpages
work well under legacy locales. On the other hand, if a user wants
to use internationalized version of manpage viewer of yours, the user
has to convert all manpages.
