Oh, no.. I hate non-standard LANGUAGE and LINGUA and their friends. IMHO, they should have never been introduced. Why can't we just use LC_MESSAGES? In his case, he can use 'LANG=en_US.UTF-8 and LC_MESSAGES=fr_FR.UTF-8' if that's what he's looking for.
