OK the question about SDL was just because the greenish image is a typical case of blitting YUV into RGB surfaces which are used by SDL. Now if the camera works with other software - it might be that ekiga doesn't manage to get a proper format for what is implementing in its display module. Have you asked people at ekiga how the video display is done ?
Anyway if the camera works with other softwares it is pretty obvious that the problem lies in ekiga. I forgot to take the case-sensitivity of grep into account... I have asked about this on the ekiga list as well, maybe ekiga is simply not recognizing the yuv as yuv in my case.
