I think it is worth being clear that Yocto Project is not a desktop
distro. We're interested in customisable targets and one of the
customisations is being able to minimise the kernel footprint.

Yes, there are cases you want *everything* but there are also cases
where you do not. The desktop kernel one binary solution is fine for
their target market but that isn't ours.

Tiny is an extreme of that but it doesn't mean "standard" YP looks like
a desktop. If you wanted a desktop distro, you can use a desktop
distro.
