Actually, the grub-install script comes with grub, so it should be available
in any Linux distro that uses grub as its boot loader. Aside from
grub-install, if you know which drive, and which partition Linux is on, you
can run grub, and then at the grub shell type the following:
root (hdx,y)
setup (hdx)
where x is the number of the drive, and y is the number of the partition.
Keep in mind that grub uses a different scheme than the standard linux drive
notation. hda1 on linux is hd0,0 for grub, hdc3 is hd2,2 for grub.
