The router seems like overkill for my side by side setup. The crossover/
twisted pair should be much cheaper and easier. I have a dialogue going
with another gentleman who seems knowledgeable. The following is from my
latest post to him and describes the card and cable specs.
********************************
Sounds simple enough on the win part. On the nix machine, I am not sure,
but I don't think it sees the card. The card is a standard ieee802.3 &
ieee802.3u 100base-tx compliant. I had to buy the cable separate and
trusted that they gave me the correct cable. The cable specs are enhanced
350mhz category 5e (utp) patch cord with the proper ends. Length is 5 feet
and is 568 stranded. I can't tell if that means a twisted pair or not. It
could be the problem if it is in fact not seen.
