Well then its a real pick up failure. I would delete and reload Ubuntu
myself but you could look at Help and search for Sound or perhaps others

It recognizes my sound card, under preferences, but I just can't get any
audio out. It works fine under windows on the other partition. I had
Freespire installed before Ubuntu and that worked as well.
