Please be more careful with attribution. I don't know who said this,
but it was *not* me (Jonathan Marsden) who said those words.
The patch looks useful, I'll check it out. However, even without it,
AutoPPP logins *do* work fine under RH 5.2. At least for me. I think
we use CHAP rather than PAP authentication, though. For our
particular application, there was deemed to be more of a threat of
traffic being monitored (and hence PAP auth being captured and reused)
than of the server being compromised and the CHAP secrets stolen.
