if u have a new tel. connection or boxes, then your phone cable may be the
modem end variety at both ends. remove the cable from the box and plug it
into both modems, line slot. and start terminal s/w (if u want 2 tranfer
data) or from the game (if u want to play one) and dial a fictitious number
remember, blind dial (i.e w/o dial tone , that should be atx1 on most
modems),
when u get the call on other side( which should be instantaneos) type ATA on
the other side (i.e non originating side) and then wait. after the initial
display of surprise by the modems u should find them waiting. now u can
transfer files, but remember, dont expect a data rate more than 5 to 10 K.
I got only 2 K, modemA was 56K and modemB was 14.4K).
to sum up
connect the phone cable to the modems,
modem A/machine A modemB/machineB
atx1
atd1
ata
if u r using minicom, set the speeds 2 max possible ( for newer modems set
it at 115200 )

(BTW, i tried this system under DOS, but the logic is the same. Anyways,
duke3d does not complain < !: - ))
