Very patchy indeed. Can never get away from them
wire tentacles.
Here is a little less patchy solution.
Wire up the RI pin (pin no 9 in a 9 pin
connector) on the receving modem (machine side
connector ) serial port to ground momentarily.
Should send the machine into recieve mode.
