it seems u have connected the ups to ur ttyS0 ie the com port.
well u might have connected your modem there but u have installed a ups
software (maybe powerd) which checks your ttyS0 for a smart ups. since u
want to know on wvdial & not on ups i will tell u to type "ntsysv " at
commandline & disable the ups daemon by deselecting so that it is not
selected at startup. alternately u can cd to /etc/rc.d/init and run the ups
daemon (assuming it is called ups)
ups stop.
then u can type wvdial (if u have already confgured wvdial).
see if it works, to repeat ur lines, since i do not know whether it will
work for u.
