Guys I do not wish to start a flaming thread here but here are my 2 cents
In push technology you actually choose to receive that data .. may be a
channel update from Microsoft IE 4.0 or a pointcast app in realplayer G2 ..
Once subscribed , on dialing to the net the app informs the site of your
online presence which triggers the data being pushed ...
Whereas in email you get it wheather you want it or not ... However
procmail's filtering with /dev/null does a good job ;-)
Hence it cannot be termed as "push" technology
www.pointcast.com for more details ...
Try realplayer G2 for Win and its got a load of channel subscriptions ....
Had seen this stuff around 7-8 months back when the concept of channels got
into I.E 4.0...
However I'd appreciate a good discussion but please do not flood the list
!!!
