Just some suggestions..I m not sure if it will work..
1. boot it in runlevel 1..at lilo prompt > linux 1
2. try to switch in to other virtual terminal by alt+n
3. try to change runlevel to 5 (graphical).
Let me know if it works or if u find other solution
for this.
