Hi Seshan-
This is default Unix behaviour to allow u to get into root maintenance. All
distros should be supporting this behaviour to get into single user mode. If
not, you have to depend on boot floppies OR rescue disks all the time.
Are you sure all the other distros do not support booting into single user
prompt.
