At boot prompt "expert26" will allow u to do almost everything
manually which is a pain
"linux26" will install linux-2.6.8-1-i386-3.
Once base installation is complete u can run tasksel and select broad
categories of apps or select manual package selection to select
packages manually.
I do a base install then apt-get remove netatalk xxx yyy zzz which
removes netatalk xxx yyy zzz packages. Then apt-get install a b c
which installs a b and c. Most of the time it's just cloning some
installation which imeans using cp.

Select desktop this will install all the regular desktop stuff. Then
apt-get install k3b dvd+rw-tools cdrdao dvdrip <other packages u
need>
download libdvdcss2 debs and save them someplace. dpkg
-i /someplace/libdvdcss2*

Buy all 14. Particularly if u are planning a customised knoppix.
