I was just wondering if anyone on the list had seen this (Flash required): http://www.spectrasonics.net/omnisphere_teaser/
It's sample-based synthesis, if you read through the FAQ. They're releasing it in September. That's nine months or so. How much can we accomplish in nine months? I realize my enthusiasm can often get the best of me, but we can't let these commercial synths get the better of Open Source, can we? In my software design class, we talked about the stages of development for a program. Number one was "understand the problem", which in our case means, "What exactly do we want this new engine to do?" Thinking about this will be good, I think. Talking about it would be good, too. Jumping right into coding without a solid plan would be a very bad idea, so I'm wondering how best to put a solid design together. Maybe we can just discuss it here, and I'll document the system as we go. I hope I don't seem too pushy. Just excited at the possibilities. Plus, I really want to expand my math and programming skills. Thanks for listening. -- Darren ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
