thanks Christian. i tell you LS and me have always had some type of a
compatibility issue, whether i try to use it on linux or windows, :-(
, :-)! windows stays pretty regularly updated and there are no new
updates that would help the problem. i did some research and seeing as
you are a programmer you probably know more about these commands than
me - so here they are:

- chkdsk /r
- sfc /scannow

- and maybe this:

these commands, particularly, the chkdsk seem to be the best and
?only? way. any thoughts before i try them? thanks.
