I'm ready to put together a new machine: Heart: ECS G31T-M mb, 2G memory, quad-core Intel processor, 2 500GB HDs, DVD burner, Antec Solo Case, Antec NeoPower 500 PS.
Soul: Don't know yet. That's where this thread comes in. A diehard KDE user for most of my linux-loving life, I'm about ready to leave because it appears that the latest KDE just doesn't make it. It's different, and it's not clear why the previous model was abandoned. If I'm going to leave what I've learned to love... I think I should really consider a tried and true Windows Manager: Gnome. So, the question is: should the soul of my new machine be Gnome? Or the new KDE? (Please don't recommend another only because it's "lighter"; with my new machine I don't need "lighter" and I definitely prefer "full-featured.) The plus for Gnome: at least they have a plan. The plus for KDE: I used to use a version they seem to have abandoned. Any comments? Thanks. Jeff -- Jeff Lasman, Nobaloney Internet Services P.O.
