It's got DHCP configured in /etc/network/interfaces. I had to set it up 
there because otherwise it wouldn't find the network at all.

So I suppose Network Manager is broken.  How do I uninstall it?

I don't need Network Manager; I figured out (with some research) how to 
configure DHCP in /etc/network/interfaces.

Actually it's pretty easy.
