OK, I had to try it... Ubuntu-8.04-LTS running GNOME. Synaptic manager, installed Kalarm (with multiple dependencies), created a test New Alarm - I hit the Try button and it popped up a window - I pushed the Close button and the window closed - then at the time i set the alarm, a window popped up - I pushed the Close button and likewise, the window closed. Not sure what would be different for Jeff. /Randall
