If migrating now, recommend either of 8.04-LTS or 9.04 over 8.10 .
As for 9.04, yes, before testing this, I did install and try out
Kalarm in 9.04 with GNOME, and it worked fine as it did for me in
8.04 . /Randall

The problem I'm having today with 9.04 (yes, I'd rather have it than
8.10) is that I want a full install of both gnome and kde, so I can try
both. Generally I get that from the magazine distributions. And the
magazine distributions (with both gnome and kde installed by default)
aren't available yet.

If I install kubuntu, I don't know what else to click on to get all of
gnome; if I install ubuntu, I don't know what else to click on to get
all of kde.

Do you? Anyone?

Once I have the answer to that I can install today.

Thanks.

Jeff

The easiest way, and I'm not in front of my computer, would be to install something that requires k-desktop (maybe k3b). This should install all needed programs to have KDE at your beck and call
