Thanks Charles, that is a good description (delicate balance between stability and new features) I agree.
I guess the question I'm asking is: everyone is putting down Ubuntu as a server distro. Why? I'm looking for hard/concrete examples why it is not recommended but Debian is? So far I have seen no actual technical reason, nor any arguments made about a feature of the ubuntu server being unreliable or unstable or anything, which leads me to believe that people are skeptical of it because it is considered "new" or "unproven" compared to Debian or CentOS, which is a mindset thing on the part of the user in my opinion. Part of why I am raising the question is because I am recommending a supported customer to move away from CentOS, and I am evaluating whether to recommend Ubuntu or Debian (purely web serving, no other apps). So I'm wanting to see some cold hard facts. (And as a disclaimer: I'm definitely still in the evaluation phase, as I've yet to even install the Ubuntu Server image so I'm a complete newbie with it) DK On 6/3/2010, "char...@knownelement.com" <char...@knownelement.com> wrote: >I use ubuntu/debian for all my linux systems.
