Hmm, I just downloaded OpenSuse 11 and installed it a virtual machine. 
It was pretty zippy until I tried enabling something 3d (vbox doesn't 
like 3d one bit) and now I can't use the GUI.  Oh well, I really should 
have seen that one coming.

I'll have to give it another spin (though that'd require backing up all 
my user data from my current install - 30 gb of stuff!)  Yikes!

If only I could afford a drobo box...  that'd be sweet!

So thanks for sticking to your guns!  Apparently the nastiness was just 
localized to suse 10.  It looked like a great distro, just a little 
wonky on the inside.  Good to know that was just a passing phase!
