This question has been asked one too many in most major mailing lists and forums.
The best answer IMO is "The best Linux for you is the Linux that will fit your needs perfectly, has all the apps you need, works well with all your hardware, and doesn't bitch too much during upgrades." It is still a matter of personal choice. I find Ubuntu and OpenSuSE perfect for _my_ needs. Both have excellent resources (mailing lists, documentation) for me to peruse. Both have virtually the same type of apps available. Mandriva is also the same good distro. But most definitely, one factor you have to consider when going full blown Linux and which distro to choose is if there's somebody nearby you can go to for help (a work colleague, a neighbor, a local LUG) and which distro they used. As you progress you can continue making a distro mix-and-match and search for that perfect-fit distro. I have settled down with Ubuntu and OpenSuSE but I'm not saying I'm not searching for another perfect fit. And there are instances that I have to choose another distro for specific needs (Vyatta/Untangle for firewall, Puppy for my old PCs, etc..) Good luck! 2008/11/8 枫 <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > > Hi Everbody! > Recently I want to buy a new computer and I want to install a Linux > OS!
