I am sure he doesn't have LVM :) unless.. he has used
auto-partitioning tool at installation and the tool was smart enough to do
so. Just feels so..because it sounds like an unplanned partition.
.. Sudhir.. paste in the output of
# fdisk -l
# e2label / (and/or # df -h )
It will give us an idea of your partition table.
I agree with Nadeem that you need to know cause (or culprit) of such a disk
usage. I presumed you had small / partition
Also, if you run the command Nadeem mentioned (du -sh * | sort -nr) I
suggest not to use 'h' in the switch. It will put size in K and G & M..
which will make sort useless.. since 200 (bytes) will be considered higher
than 20K. For instance, see the difference between two :
