Sounds like you haven't looked at Majordomo2. Ok, it isn't out of alpha
testing yet, but it's very rich feature-wise and it's free.

Note that Ron who complained about a specific brokenness of Listserv
is not just "one site admin". Ron develops anti-spam software, and
his explanantion makes a lot of sense where he explained why this
brokenness of Listserv makes his task of developing good anti-spam
software much harder.

If this brokenness of Listserv will not be fixed within a reasonably
short timeframe, I would certainly say that this is a reason for
everyone who is opposed to spam should consider migrating away from
Listserv.
