I did concur, at least with the results - but there was an additional
factor or two. The one complaining was worth much less to us than the
one complained of, so doing nothing about it was an easy call.
However, he saw my nonintervention as a lack of support, so he began
conspiring against me, the result being he drew off a portion of the
list into his own copycat operation, using the exact premise and
pronouncements as the original. I simply deleted all twenty three or so
of them from our group and away we flew.
He did us a real favor. Of course, the ones who would join him were the
troublemakers or the neutrals, yet they did take up quite a bit of
space. They actually had defined us, for most purposes, for the
fledglings. When I booted them, it was like dumping sandbags from a
hotair balloon.
It was ugly at the time, but we're much better for it as a direct
result. Their clone folded, of course. Some of the renegades have
floated back from time to time.
Incidentally, were you to go through the NerdNosh archives, you would
find nary a trace of any trouble at any time, at least as pertains to
the community. This is because we early on instituted a meta-list to
keep discussion and chat out of the mainstream. I certainly do
recommend that step.
