The shield is definitely much smaller. The 1.0 follows the late 90s fashion of hanging huge shoulder pads, hip armor, lower legs and forearms on tiny chest, waist, upper arms and thighs. It looked pretty cool back then. The 2.0 took a major compromise toward the generation of robots before that. The chest and waist is much closer to the human scale (still very thin compared to adullt male). The upper arms and thighs are also longer and thicker. The knee pads are less assuming. Overall it feels like there's more body (robot) and less paraphernalia. I can understand there's a whole school of designers (and fans) who likes the 90s look.
