The greatness of FFX's plot is a matter of opinion.

But I won't say anything more about that. :P

(though I will note that one of the reasons that I don't have much time to play
this game is due to the amount of time I spend playing FFXI)

As Shin states, generic mecha would have worked just as well. But that's fine
by me. I wasn't really expecting anything other than that. It was pretty well
known beforehand that the setting was completely new. But I still would have
liked something that felt a little more like a Gundam plot. Instead, we got
something that's even more cliched than the plot of the Appleseed movie.

You can argue over whether or not SEED was cliched. But at least those were
GUNDAM cliches that were generally involved! (usually) So far the only
possible Gundam cliche in this game is a guy in a mask (albeit one that covers
little more than a pair of sunglasses) who might eventually pilot a red mobile
suit (but isn't doing so yet) and might eventually turn out to be a bad guy
(but looks like he's solidly in the good guy camp so far).

His hair is light purple, though - not blonde.

The mix and match feature with the mecha is fun, though. I'm hoping that I'm
about to move into a part of the game that opens things up a little and
provides more than just Zaku parts to work with.
