True.  Something malleable is easier to justify (animals, cloth, water, etc.) than something solid (metal, wood, glass).  Why have a character that can deform have dents?

 
Not if they are made of some otherworldly element.  The moveable parts could be nanotechnology or liquid metal ala T2.  .

If that is the explanation from the cartoon series then fair enough.  That's canon.  But if it's some cop-out in order for the live-action movie to have deforming car faces then I won't need to see it.  I may actually work on part of it but I still won't feel like seeing it.
